7th Dunhuang cultural expo showcases Silk Road civilization
In 2024, the 7th Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo presented five special cultural exhibitions at the Dunhuang International Convention and Exhibition Center. Famous artifacts drew international visitors, offering a glimpse into the civilizations of the Silk Road.
Covering five themes, the exhibitions highlighted the Dunhuang Academy's work since 2019 in cave protection, academic research and heritage promotion through multimedia, interactive experiences, technology and restored caves.
Gansu's ancient Silk Road exchanges were illustrated by over 30 precious relics, including ceramics, jade and bronzes.
More than 1,100 intangible cultural heritage items and cultural creative products across six categories and 68 series reflected the province's contemporary style and latest research and development results.
Nearly 100 fine artworks presented Gansu's history, diverse landscapes and contemporary culture, underscoring Dunhuang art’s historical and contemporary value.
Over 70 photographs by Chinese and Uruguayan photographers of natural and cultural landscapes provided a platform for photographic exchange.
The exhibitions brought together artistic treasures from the Silk Road and highlighted achievements in cultural exchanges under the Belt and Road Initiative. They offered visitors a rich cultural experience, deepened understanding of the Silk Road's historical significance and contemporary relevance, and promoted the development of Silk Road culture.
