Dunhuang Summer Fair began on the evening of July 18 with the lighting of the Nine-Colored Deer lantern, transforming the area into a vibrant scene of ancient and modern splendor.

Organized by Dunhuang Cultural and Tourism Group, the event runs until Oct 15 and aims to showcase Dunhuang's cultural heritage. With the theme "How Long is the Silk Road?", the festival features two main parts: public art and youth slow flash.

The public art section presents six installations using media like copper bells, Dunhuang Han slips, light technology, and VR films to explore the Silk Road's legacy. The youth slow flash section includes 10 brands covering coffee, hanfu (traditional Chinese clothing), and more, creating a blend of culture and commerce.

The event offers regular performances, including traditional music, dance, hanfu parades, and interactions, enriching the nighttime experience for visitors.

From ancient Silk Road to modern light-filled streets, Dunhuang uses art and innovation to connect its cultural heritage with the world.
