An art troupe from Gansu performed in Algiers, capital of Algeria, as part of a series of Spring Festival cultural events, presenting a cultural showcase rich in Silk Road heritage.
The festivities began on Jan 27 with a ceremony at the city's historic Grande Poste d'Alger, illuminated in red for the occasion. The visiting artists enlivened the event with flash performances.
The main performances were held on Jan 28 and 29 at the Algiers Opera House. Chinese Ambassador to Algeria Dong Guangli and Algerian Minister of Culture and Arts Zouhir Ballalou attended, alongside local dignitaries and residents.
An exhibition featuring Gansu's cultural and tourism offerings preceded the shows. Ambassador Dong said that the festival has become a highlight of bilateral cultural exchange, while Minister Ballalou praised the cultural significance of Spring Festival.
The program featured Dunhuang-themed art, including the renowned dance Thousand-Hand Bodhisattva. A musical segment presented both Chinese classics and beloved Algerian songs, creating a moment of cross-cultural connection.
The tour was part of Gansu's efforts to strengthen cultural diplomacy, successfully fostering mutual understanding through artistic exchange.
