A sketching event involving renowned Chinese artists was launched in Dunhuang on Jan 6. Jointly organized by the China National Academy of Painting and the local government, the activity has brought together over 30 distinguished artists.
Through on-site observations and live sketching, the participants aim to explore the essence of Dunhuang culture and promote the integration of contemporary art with traditional heritage.
The activity is led by Li Honglin, director of the Art Museum of the China National Academy of Painting. He said that the program seeks to interpret the unique appeal of Dunhuang through the artists’ perspectives, inspiring works that embody both cultural depth and modern relevance.
The three-day event includes creative sessions at nearby cultural landmarks such as the Yulin Caves and Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring.
