The Gansu Intangible Cultural Heritage and Cultural Creations Exhibition, a key part of the 8th Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo, was held from Sept 21 to 25.
It displayed over 10,000 cultural and creative products across four sections, highlighting the province's preservation efforts and innovative developments.
Fifteen cultural and creative product enterprises from Jiuquan, Gansu province, presented a diverse collection of more than 350 exhibits. These ranged from intangible cultural heritage items like Jiuquan luminous cup carving and Dunhuang painted sculptures to popular modern items such as astronaut-themed fans and Dunhuang-inspired bookmarks.
These products were well-received by visitors, with sales of nearly 20,000 yuan ($2807) from over 200 items sold during the event.
Live demonstrations, including one by Hou Yanghong, inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage Dunhuang mineral pigment painting, allowed attendees to experience traditional art in action. Musical performances from Subei Mongolian autonomous county and Aksay Kazak autonomous county added further cultural richness to the exhibition.
Jiuquan's participants received four awards at the expo, recognizing excellence in organization, outstanding cultural and creative product enterprise, and best-selling and most innovative cultural products.
