Dunhuang International Art Week celebrates peace through art
The 2025 "Ode to Peace" Dunhuang International Art Week was held on Aug 11 to 12 in Dunhuang, Gansu province, as a key event of the "Dunhuang: Light of the Silk Road" international cultural exchange program. The event aimed to promote peace and harmony through artistic expression.
As a historic center of East-West cultural exchange and home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Mogao Caves, Dunhuang continues to strengthen its role as an international reception room for cultural diplomacy.

The art week brought together officials, experts, artists, and youth from 18 countries, as well as representatives from seven Chinese provinces, for a series of cultural and artistic activities.
Following the success of the 4th Dialogue on Exchanges and Mutual Learning among Civilizations held in Dunhuang in May, the city has gained increasing recognition for its efforts in global cultural heritage preservation and international youth art exchanges.
The signing of cooperation agreements between the Dunhuang municipal government and organizations such as the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations further established mechanisms for deeper international collaboration in culture, arts, and education.
During the event, participants from China and other countries grew their mutual understanding and friendship through joint workshops, lectures, and visits to cultural sites, including the Site of Xuanquan Posthouse and Mogao Caves.
