The 7th Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo concluded its four-day Intangible Heritage and Creative Products Exhibition on Sept 24, 2024.
The exhibition featured six themed zones, covering 2,940 square meters with over 1,100 items across 68 product series. Exhibits highlighted Gansu's rich cultural symbols, blending traditional crafts with fresh materials, techniques, and modern design.
Crowds gathered around live demonstrations of Dunhuang powder paintings, Pingliang paper-cutting, Lanzhou gourd carving, and more. Plush toys in the museum zone sparked joy in from nostalgic adults and wide-eyed children.
Visitors also enjoyed local drinks like Longnan Longjing tea and apricot Americanos in the leisure zone — turning cultural appreciation into everyday indulgence.
With total sales surpassing 180,000 yuan ($25,082), the event reflected growing public interest in creative heritage consumption. As Gansu deepens efforts to integrate culture and commerce, the expo affirms its confidence in transforming heritage into accessible lifestyle products and fueling high-quality cultural tourism.
