The Sixth Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo opened on Sept 6, 2023. As a historic crossroads on the Silk Road, Dunhuang once again became a hub for global dialogue, welcoming scholars, diplomats, and artists from around the world.
The 6th expo featured forums, exhibitions, performances, and discussions on historical preservation and cultural cooperation. Notable among them was the Second Dialogue of Friendship Association of Countries with Ancient Civilizations, where representatives from multiple nations explored historical connections.

Turkmenistan, the guest-of-honor country, showcased traditional artifacts, textiles, and cultural symbols, reflecting centuries of interaction with China.
Visitors enjoyed immersive performances, including the debut of Flying Apsaras, a musical blending Chinese and Western influences. International artists collaborated with Chinese performers, creating a dynamic fusion of cultural traditions.
The expo also highlighted advancements in Dunhuang studies, historical conservation, and digitalization efforts to preserve ancient artifacts. A special exhibition demonstrated how technology is revitalizing historical relics for future generations.
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo reaffirmed the importance of global cooperation.
