To celebrate 40 years of friendship between Gansu province, China, and Oklahoma, United States, the Gansu Performing Arts Group took part in a special cultural event at the University of Central Oklahoma. Jointly organized by Chinese and American cultural associations, the event brought together nearly 300 guests for an artistic exchange.
As China's cultural ambassadors, the Gansu Performing Arts Group presented performances inspired by Dunhuang heritage and ethnic traditions. The dances Thousand Buddhas and Rebounding Pipa depicted the mystical beauty of Mogao Cave murals. Instrumental renditions of Dance of the Golden Snake and Take Me Home, Country Roads on Chinese instruments demonstrated cross-cultural musical appreciation.
Ethnic artistry featured prominently with a Northwest folk solo and the Yugur ethnic dance I Am a Yugur Girl, highlighting Gansu's rich diversity.
In a symbolic collaboration, musicians from China and the US performed Horse Racing, followed by the Oklahoma state song, enhancing the event's atmosphere. The evening concluded with a group performance of Auld Lang Syne, emphasizing lasting friendship.
