The large-scale indoor play Encore Dunhuang that reflects the history and culture of Dunhuang was staged in the Silk Road city on Sept 19, 2017.
Crafted over two years, the immersive production features six prominent historical figures and five carefully selected scenes from Dunhuang's past, offering audiences a vivid and intimate experience of the city's ancient cultural charm.
The production employs an innovative theatrical approach, guiding sixteen groups of spectators through different "caves," where they engage in conversations with historical figures. The immersive storytelling creates an awe-inspiring journey through time—taking just fifty steps feels like traveling a hundred years, while a hundred steps transcend a millennium.
As a renowned cultural brand, the immersive melodrama conveys the legacy of the Silk Road and brings to life the essence of "Dunhuang for all humanity" through artistic expression.
