The book, published by Zhonghua Book Company, is the latest work by Dunhuang scholar Rong Xinjiang. It chronicles Rong's personal experiences of searching for rare Dunhuang documents worldwide since 1984.
Rong expressed his hope that the book will help readers understand the evolution of Chinese Dunhuang studies. He envisions the book not only as engaging reading material that highlights global travels, but also as an inspirational work that shares how to gain positive energy in life.

During the signing ceremony, Rong emphasized the need for international cooperation and dialogue within the global Dunhuang academic community. He reiterated the idea proposed by master scholar Ji Xianlin (1911-2009) -- "Dunhuang is in China, but studies on it occur abroad."
Rong expects that the translations will make the book accessible to and beloved by a wider audience, allowing overseas sinologists to understand Dunhuang studies in their own languages.
