In Dunhuang, Gansu province, festive lanterns competed in splendor and brilliance to celebrate Chinese New Year.
The lanterns' designs featured various elements of Dunhuang culture and artistic features, such as the nine-story building of the Mogao Grottoes, the Flying Apsaras, the Nine-Colored Deer, and desert camel bells.
