A replica of a luxury Xirong vehicle, with a history of more than 2,500 years, is on display at the exhibition titled "Make the cultural relics come alive" in Lanzhou, Gansu province, from Sept 14 on.

The replica, produced by the Gansu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, is strictly in accordance with the style of the original unearthed in Majiayuan. On seeing it, people can get a glimpse of the life of nobles of the western border tribesmen in the Warring States Period (475-221 BC).

The carriage is square, supplemented by two giant wheels on both sides, and connected by a shaft in the middle. The wheels and railings of the carriage are distributed with hollow ornaments in gold, copper and silver, including geometric figures and animal patterns.

Majiayuan historical site was listed as one of the 10 most important archaeological discoveries, in 2006, by the Chinese State Administration of Cultural Heritage. It is renowned for its unique burial relics, ornate vehicles, and the intricate decoration of the bodies found there.
