Preparatory work for cultural and tourism events in Dunhuang in full swing
Dunhuang city, Northwest China's Gansu province, held a mobilization meeting on June 29, for the upcoming 5th Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo and the 10th Dunhuang Tour-Silk Road International Tourism Festival.
Chen Yanren, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jiuquan Municipal Committee and secretary of the CPC Dunhuang Municipal Committee, presided over the meeting.
Chen said departments and persons involved should put all efforts into implementing the preparation tasks, paying special attention to the overall arrangement, which should be done in a scientific and systematic manner, as well as paying attention to the control of the processes and details.
"We should take into consideration any difficulties and problems that may occur and work out a thorough and detailed plan", Chen added. "We also need to make use of past experiences of hosting the expo, and find ways to effectively deal with the process and details."
Regarding the current circumstance, one cannot be too careful, strict, or prudent when it comes to the prevention and control of COVID-19 pandemic. Video connections should also be prepared in advance if needed.
Chen also said that the preparatory work should focus on overall requirements, as well as systematic plans and preparation. An effective working system that can facilitate coordination and liaison should also be established.
The cultural and tourism events will play an important role in driving the overall coordinated development of Dunhuang city, across urban construction, culture and industrial development.
The overall development of Dunhuang city should be considered and deployed before, during, and after the events.
At the meeting, Zhu Jianjun, deputy secretary of the CPC Dunhuang Municipal Committee and mayor of the city, made detailed arrangements for the preparation work of the events.
Zhu said that those involved in the task are required to attach great importance to the events and to fully perform their duties, including the overall coordination, reception and liaison, forums and exhibitions, services, environmental beautification, publicity, security, and comprehensive support.
The events are expected to help build Dunhuang's brand and expand its influence. In addition, they will stimulate local vitality and the endogenous power of local economic developments.
The 5th Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo and the 10th Dunhuang Tour-Silk Road International Tourism Festival will be held in Dunhuang from September 24 to 26. Other activities will be held in different cities and prefectures in the province from August to October.
